Every child deserves many moments of happiness together with their loved ones. And for families of children with serious illness, children’s palliative care does just that. Unbridled joy, unparalleled comfort, and irreplaceable memories are all possible because of the exceptional care and support provided by children’s hospices and charities like Together for Short Lives.
I’ve been a Trustee at East Anglia Children’s Hospice for x years, and I know first-hand that children’s palliative care, put simply, is magical. But for many families who need palliative care, the system is falling short. Parents and siblings are left feeling isolated and alone, and children are missing out on life-changing support.
I’m raising money for Together for Short Lives
Together for Short Lives is the leading UK-wide charity for children living with serious illness, their families and the services that provide them with palliative care.
They support families to live their lives, through the ups and downs, offering practical, emotional and financial help. They listen, support and, when they’re ready, connect them to the right services and their incredible community – people who really get what they’re going through.
They campaign for system change to make sure that children with serious illness and their families get the care and support they need. They rally the community and give people a voice. And where the system falls short, they demand change.
They unite the children’s palliative care sector by sharing crucial research, leading on guidance, service models and standards and helping professionals to meet, learn and share. They raise vital funds for children’s hospices like EACH and palliative care services.
Together for Short Lives is building a future where every child with a serious illness and their family gets the vital care they need, when they need it. But they receive no funding from government or the NHS, and that’s where we come in.
